Behind the brand

I am Roland Szakály, the creator of the rolandszakaly brand. I am a fan of architecture and the city.
As an architect, I try to process the built environment that surrounds us by venturing into the world of drawing and graphic design. Budapest is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me, so the city and its architecture are at the center of my art. I often draw buildings that are special to me, taken out of their environment, without context, in their bare essence. Freeing them from the noise of the city, the forms and motifs are amplified, often gaining new meaning. At other times, on the contrary, the emphasis is on the dialogue between the city and the house/houses. The integration of the individual elements, the rhythm and dynamics that I want to depict.

As a Transdanubian, it is natural that the capital and its diversity still appeal to me to this day. At the same time, as an architect, the theme that is at the center of my work is clear to me.

I have been documenting my surroundings in graphic form for a few years now, and over time it has grown from a hobby into a business and then into my main occupation. I have now accumulated so many patterns in my repertoire that everyone can find something they like. I can't keep them all to myself, so I would like to share them with you, so that we can all connect to the city that is so dear to us, Budapest.

For some time now, I have also been making unique building graphics on request. During the work, you have approached me with many special things that I still consider among my favorites. I have come across houses that would not have otherwise made it to the viewing room, but each one is special and very important to you. I enjoy making portraits of small houses just as much as grandiose cityscapes, and it is a special pleasure for me to be able to deal with this in my everyday life.
